Do you work on Weekends?

One of the most important things for me in my business is finding that right balance between work time and family time.  That is why typically I don’t do any work on the weekends.

I like to spend my weekends completely devoted to my family.

I think that is part of why I have struggled so much to keep up with the Ultimate Blog Challenge through the weekends.  It is a very big change for me to create the time and space for business stuff on the weekends.

There are often several nights during the week that I don’t make it home to see my kids before they go to bed, which feels horrible, so I really enjoying having two full days to just spend time with my boys and play with them.  My 6 year old will often ask me if it’s Family Fun Day Saturday or Family Fun Day Sunday.

What do you do to stay balanced with your family time and work time?

  1. Hi Melissa! Stopping by from the UBC and Facebook. These are important points you raise, and even though I don’t have little ones at home, I still would prefer NOT to have work to do on the weekends.

As a freelancer, though, it just seems to work out that way, to always have some bit of writing I have to do – PLUS my grad course assignment.

It will be interesting to see what others have to say!

  2. Hi Melissa, the idea of balance between business and personal life has been on my mind so your post is very timely! It is tough for me because I truly love what I do as a Branding and Marketing Passionista 🙂 I try to take most Saturdays and Sundays off from most if not all business activities. I think it helps because I always come back with even more ideas to implement on Mondays 🙂

I agree Sherry! Taking some time away is definitely important and a great way to allow ideas to flow! Thanks for commenting!
