Do you need to work harder for success?

Are you struggling to create a profitable business that will allow you the lifestyle that you dream of?

Do you feel like you are working really hard but not getting any where?

I know that you are busy and it feels like you need to keep doing what you’ve been doing.  You are probably even feeling like you just need to work harder to push through.

The truth though is that it doesn’t matter how much action you take or how hard you work if you are not first in alignment with your True Self.

We have been taught that you just need to work hard to get what you want.  It started when we were young.  Our parents and teachers told us that the key to a happy life is to work hard in school, to get good grades, get in to a good college, get a good job making as much money as possible, and to save enough money so that we can do what we want in retirement.

There are several things wrong with this plan.

One of the major problems with this plan is that it encourages us to stop listening to our internal guidance system to direct our activities, goals and sense of accomplishment and to put more stock in what other people think.

Another major problem with this plan is it makes us believe that we should put off happiness and fun; that we can’t do what we want to do until we have worked hard enough and long enough.

We each have our own Internal Guidance System that is constantly sending us clues to help us to navigate the path that will lead us to alignment with our True Self.  Those clues are our emotions.

If you learn to tap in to your Internal Guidance System and allow your emotions to guide you, you can achieve everything you desire and more easily and effortlessly than you can even imagine.

You can work yourself to near exhaustion for years and years and still not reach your goals if you don’t learn how to follow your Internal Guidance System. (I know from personal experience)

Now I’m not saying that you won’t have to take action, I just mean that the action you take won’t feel like you have to push and effort through it.

You will be doing things that you enjoy, that make you happy, and at the same time you will be achieving all of your goals.

When you find this path, where you are doing what you love, what makes you happy, and you are using your unique gifts and talents providing a service to the world or the people around you, the money will just automatically follow.

You will easily and effortlessly attract the money that you need and want.

So the “work” that we need to do first is to learn how to tap in to your Emotional Guidance System.

To get started with that I would like you to make a list of things that make you happy or bring you joy.

  • these may be things that you currently have in your possession
  • they may be things that you would like to have
  • they may be things that you appreciate in nature
  • they may be activities or hobbies that you enjoy
  • these may be times in the past when you felt proud of your accomplishments
  • or something that just thinking about it makes you feel happy

We will be talking more about tapping in to your Emotional Guidance System soon.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what has been your biggest realization from this post.

  1. I didn’t realize the Emotional Guidance System was such a big thing nowadays. I;m seeing it everywhere since the UBC started. I enjoyed your post, I wish I had the faith to try and do the things I loved and just ‘go for it’ now, but I’m too scared of the consequences. It sounds like a good way of living though, that’s for sure.

Thanks for the comment Demosthenes! I can definitely appreciate that it feels scary to consider changing the “rules” that we have been raised to live by.

Using your Emotional Guidance System doesn’t mean that you have to abruptly throw out everything you are doing now and start over from scratch. In fact, making the decision not to change what you are doing because it feels scary is listening to your Emotion Guidance System.

It’s all about making a conscious decision to pay attention to how you feel throughout your day. As you notice things that don’t feel good, you first want to ask if this is something you need to do. If it’s something that you don’t NEED to do or WANT to do, don’t do it. For example. if you don’t feel like going to a friend’s party, don’t do it.

If it is something that you feel like you need to do, like go to work so you can continue paying your bills, start by asking yourself if there is a new way of thinking about that thing that might make you feel better about it? Or is there something you can do to make yourself enjoy it more? You can always start working on some of the things that you love to do in addition to what you are currently doing.

The good news – it’s all about doing what ever feels right to you!

  2. I love your post. So many people have a hard time thinking this way because the old ways of making working hard and making money are ingrained in their belief system. Taking a leap of faith in your ability to get where you want to go is a big step!

Thanks Dr. Nimira! You are so right! I still struggle letting go of the belief that you have to work hard! But at least now when I’m working hard, I’m working hard doing things I enjoy doing! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
